At Stead Engineering, our team is dedicated to providing an efficient service that is of consistently high quality and value for money. To do this, we rely on the strength of teamwork and organisational skills in order to produce the best results for every job.
Once we receive an order/enquiry, either Nathan or Dave Stead will inform our project coordinator, Nicole McKee, who then raises an internal works docket. This docket includes detailed information pertaining to the nature of the job, any quotes required from suppliers, the hours of work required both in the fabrication shop and on site and any materials that will be required. In order to complete it, we assign a time served engineer to assess the job, either by carrying out a site visit or, if possible, using photos and technical drawings provided by the client. From this Nicole is able to calculate the total cost of the order, which is then be run by senior management before sending it to the customer.
We work strategically to schedule the production of the order, working around our own schedule and the requirements of the customer to ensure it is completed on time and within budget every time. Nicole works closely with our MD Nathan and Shaun Rutter, Head Purchasing, to ensure any subcontracting requirements are organised in advance to enable the project to run as efficiently as possible. Shaun is also in charge of collecting the materials and delivering the final product, as well as dealing with any repairs if they are required.
Rich, Lee, Sam and Ian complete the bulk of any complex fabrication work, and our apprentices, who are given hands on jobs to help develop their skills, assist them. Regular, effective communication between the site team and the Office enable us to work dynamically and react positively to any live changes to the client requirements during the project.
Our entire team is dedicated to the production of the highest quality fabrications and, in order to maintain a high standard of production, are committed to consistent Health and Safety standards. Before any site work can commence, Hannah draws up a dynamic risk assessment and safe systems of work document, derived from the details our engineers acquire on site visits. This is the procedure for all jobs that require site work and require authorisation by the client before any work can commence.
